Louis Tam

The 2025 Guangzhou Michelin Guide newly added one star restaurant Chōwa, with chef Louis Tam from Hong Kong. He had long confirmed his love for Japanese-French fusion cuisine, and after years of cultivating his skills, he eventually settled his first restaurant in Guangzhou. 

When he first arrived in Guangzhou, he started from scratch and grew through questioning and honing. In the first year of opening, the restaurant was selected for the Michelin recommended list, and the following year, it even jumped one star.

Chōwa means harmony in Japanese, hoping that everyone can have a comfortable meal without overthinking. He doesn’t’ keep his style simple and intense, but rather prefers harmonious flavors. He gets used to creating dishes with rich structure in taste and texture. 

One of the expectations of opening this restaurant is to encourage customers to explore the feasibility of food combinations. The team will try our best to make some food that may not be available in the market.
